Moving in at Middletown Public Library

Cynthia Parkhill shelves books at Middletown Public Library

Jonathan and I shelved for several hours Tuesday at the new Middletown Public Library. We joined members of Friends of the Middletown Public Library and other volunteers from the community.

With our move to Ashland, Oregon three weeks out, I will invest as much time as I can spare to volunteering at the Middletown library, subject to homework deadlines and preparation for our own move.

Our efforts Tuesday were concentrated upon non-fiction books. The shelving that I do each week and Jonathan’s experience shelving library books served us well keeping the project on task.

By the end of the day, non-fiction books were shelved from the 000s to about the 618s. The move-in project will continue and the library will be closed this week. Help out, if you’ve time to spare.

Look for more library move-in photos on my Facebook page, Cynthia Parkhill: Information Professional. I have also posted photos to my Pinterest board, “Middletown library and park construction.”

Shelved library books

Update, 4:03 p.m.: I spent about three more hours shelving today and am in the low- to mid-640s. Special thanks to a pair of young women, missionaries with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for sorting books. Their help made it ever so much easier to shelve.
