Who remembers Scholastic Book Fairs? I do

Scholastic Book Fairs, one of the few happy memories from my tenure in elementary school, take place in April at Jackson County, Oregon schools.

Scholastic is the American publisher of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series and Cornelia Funke’s fantasy (Inkheart trilogy, The Thief Lord and Dragon Rider).

I’ve fond memories of early book acquisition thanks to Scholastic Book Fairs with vital cooperation from my mother. Most notable among them is John D. Fitzgerald’s Great Brain adventures.

Today, my continued interest in Scholastic is fueled by a professional ambition to provide library services. Among books I read that are marketed to young readers, I gravitate toward fantasy titles published by Scholastic.

Scholastic Book Fairs are scheduled from April 8 to 12 at Talent Elementary School, located at 307 W. Wagner St. (Shop online until April 20) and from April 11 to 19 at Jefferson Elementary School, located at 333 Holmes Ave. in Medford.
