Every single corner of Jackson County has “its own little independent campaign” in support of a library district, according to Cathy Shaw speaking to the Medford Mail Tribune.

Shaw is chair of the Libraries for All political action committee.

Among independent library campaigns that Shaw was talking about, I am grateful that the Ashland library yarn-bomb has been allowed to remain. It’s also being featured on the Libraries for All website.

Residents are being asked to vote during the May 2014 Primary to form a special district for Jackson County libraries. Measure 15-122 would create a taxing district managed by a five-person board.

Homeowners would be taxed each year up to 60 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value. According to the Mail Tribune, the owner of a home worth $154,210, the average for Jackson County, would pay $92.53.
